from the Director:
With over 30 years of experience, the staff of the International Business
and Management Center (IBMC) designs, coordinates and implements a variety
of programs for professionals, corporate and organizational executives
both domestically and internationally.
The IBMC develops Customized Programs to meet the specific needs of
their clients. The speakers, presenters and organizational development
specialists are carefully selected from experts located on the faculty
at the University of Kentucky and from experts and practitioners in
various disciplines. Programs can be offered in the Gatton College of
Business and Economics Building located on campus or at various venues
based upon the client’s criteria, including in the client’s
facilities. The Center offers a free initial consultation, to discuss
the clients needs and options for professional development to better
assist with tailoring the course curriculum to fit your needs. In this
way, a program can be developed to provide training in all areas required
by the client, e.g. Sales and Marketing Management, Accounting, Human
Resource Management, Finance Management, Budgeting, etc…. The
Center seeks to maintain the program quality in a value added budget
format.
The IBMC offers a variety of programs annually. The UK Sports Marketing
Academy, a three year certification program, for example, combines a
unique blend of experts and practitioners in collegiate and professional
athletics. The School Financial Management Institute is a comprehensive
training program for school financial managers in the Commonwealth that
extends over three years and culminates with the issuance of a certificate
after successful completion of an examination. The IBMC also offers
a bi-annual SHRM® (Society of Human Resource Management) program
which is a thirteen week comprehensive program in preparation for the
SPHR/PHR exam.
The center host a variety of international programs. The staff of the
IBMC conducts programs for foreign companies, governments, and educational
organizations wishing to learn more about the private enterprise systems
and American management techniques. Several programs have been conducted
for groups from Indonesia, Kazakstan, Croatia, and the Republic of China.
The staff of the IBMC plans and conducts conferences for associations
and other organizations. The IBMC assists with the coordination the
week-long Kentucky Institute for Economic Development Program which
is accredited by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).
Providing quality service through consulting, planning and implementing
educational programs is the mission of the IBMC. The IBMC staff will
assist you in identifying your needs and designing a program to reach
your goals. The IBMC has a history of quality education and instructors
who enhance the development and presentation of successful programs.
